This Sunday in our Purfleet gym, Barry Ryan defends his IWC Light-heavyweight shoot title against No1 contender Danny Griffin.
These two clashed in the IWC Light-heavy final earlier this year in what was a very memorable final.
This will take place at 2pm.
Normal training will not be affected and this adds a lot of spice to the day.
The ring will be up again and Jon Ritchie will be taking the morning session.
We have a special guest next week in the form of former Dropkixx student Marty Scurll
For those that don't know him (where have you been) Marty is a former Dropkixx shoot champion and one if not the most successful wrestlers from Dropkixx to have made the main circuit.
This will be a great in ring session.

375|-179 News Update - 05/11/08
This Sunday in a packed gym the returning Lucy Clayden took a very strenuous warm-up before taking the students through break falls, rolls, nip-ups and cartwheels.
After this head trainer Jon Ritchie asked two students to start from a lock-up and then pick a move to go to, after the move was put on, Jon asked for another students to replace the student in the hold and the new student had to come up with a reversal and another move to add on.
This continued until we had yet another new sequence that the students practised before a short break.
After the break we then had students pick pieces of paper up which had various match types written on them, the student that picked the paper had to pick the people that they needed and then had to perform that match for the class to guess what type of match it was.
This led to come great wrestling, combined with a lot of laughs and some unusual pairings that wouldn’t usually be seen at shows
At Tottenham on Wednesday head trainer The Grim Reaper led students through an excellent warm-up before taking the students through some shoot techniques, including submissions and arm-bars.
After this the students went through some pro moves and chains, all getting in last minute practice before this Friday’s upcoming Tottenham show!
Don't forget that the next Dropkixx training sessions will be at Purfleet on Sunday and is led by Jon Ritchie. Purfleet training starts at 10:30 A.M. and finishes at 4:30 P.M., the address of the gym is: Hugh Delarghy Hall, North Road, Purfleet, Essex, RM19 1TU.
The next training session after that will be at Tottenham on Wednesday led by The Grim Reaper. Tottenham training starts at 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., the address of the gym is: Tottenham Chances (Formerly The Royal British Legion), 399 Tottenham High Road, Tottenham, N17 6QN.

In their pairs the students showed some great mat wrestling, while John stopped the students every so often to give them advice or pointers on how do perform the hold.
After all the students had wrestled there was a short break followed by some free time. All the students greatly enjoyed this session, as they were given a different perspective on the way the wrestle from one of the best in the country!

371|-175 News Update - 09.09.08
Another great week of training this week as on Sunday Jon Ritchie took the always great warm up before going into some lock-up and take-down drills.
After this Jon had two students pick a move to show the class, then asked someone to suggest another move that could be added, the students suggested their own moves or counters to add until a whole sequence was created. After this the sequenced was practised before a quick break and then back to the mat!
At the gym on Sunday a very special unadvertised guest came down, World of Sport wrestler Tony ‘Titch’ White. As usual with any guest he was greeted with open arms, he watched the students go through the sequence that was just shown and also suggested ways things could be done better. In Tottenham on Wednesday The Grim Reaper and Amit Rambojan took the class
After a great warm-up Amit took the students through some sparring and striking drills before some excellent chain wrestling with The Grim Reaper.

As promised the today session was another great one as Jon Ritchie took students through an excellent warm-up before doing some lock-up and take-down drills.
After that Jon took the students step by step through a sequence, adding different parts when the students had learnt how to do what they were shown.
After a quick break World of Sport star Barry Cooper arrived at the gym and was quick to get onto the mat and start teaching!
Barry was quick to get his session started and began pairing the students together and then had them doing some basic lock ups into full nelsons. After this the moves Barry showed got more technical, showing different counters to wristlocks and full nelsons among other holds.
This all added up to a great day of training, and solidified our history of having great guest trainers!

369|-173 News Update - 22.09.08
This week in a packed gym we were more than pleased that midway through a great session with Jon Ritchie we had some very unexpected guests!
First the most explosive heavyweight currently wrestling in Britain, Jon Moss who came with his mysterious extra large friend eXodus.
Jon Moss came to visit long time friend Jon Ritchie, but much to our approval it did not take long for the incredibly hard Jon Moss to have his shirt off and working through some great stuff with our students.
Then as to further a great day in walked one of the most talented youngsters out there today in the form of former Dropkixx student and technical wizard Marty Scurll!
This all proved to make a great day even better.
Next weeks training session (22/09) we have the pleasure of Jon Ritchie taking the morning session and the ring will be up as our special guest a World of Sport star and a wrestler that is still going strong and making the TV screens today, Barry Cooper! Barry has more than thirty years knowledge and this we are sure will prove to be another great session.

A great session this week as Doug Williams was the guest trainer.
Jon Ritchie took the as-always great warm-up followed by some amateur wrestling with the students alternating partners so that there was a wide range for the trainees to wrestle with.
Shortly after 1:00 P.M. Doug Williams started the training session. First he showed the class how to do forearms, uppercuts and various other strikes before moving onto some more technical manoeuvres involving wristlocks and other holds.
After this there was a short session of free time as the students practiced what Doug has just showed followed by a quick question and answer session.
This all added up to a great day at the Purfleet gym as the students eagerly anticipated Doug Williams’ next guest session!

363|-167 News Update - 01.09.08
Another great day of training at our Purfleet gym this past Sunday as Jon Ritchie led both the warm-up and training session.
After a great warm-up and break falls the students were told to pair up and then were shown parts of a sequence that they had the practice and then show in front of the class.
After a very short break the students were then shown more chain wrestling to add to the sequence that they already learnt.
Finally, after nearly a whole day of learning sequences and chains to string together the students finally showed what they had practised. As usual the excellent standard of Dropkixx shined through, not only with the experienced members of the group, but the newer members were also showing signs of great improvement!
After this was a short but comical exchange where Jon Ritchie showed a takedown and challenged our regular judo-master The Sensei to name the throw, he did which started a quick battle of who knows the most judo throws!
After this Jon Ritchie then showed how to do various strikes. He showed examples of how they are commonly done, and how we add our own style to them

362|-166 Dropkixx Ten Year Anniversary Show - 29.08.08
This Saturday, 30th August marks ten historic years of British wrestling brought to you by the number one training academy in Europe as Dropkixx Wrestling Academy come to the Fondu Sports Club in Purfleet, Essex one more time for some explosive wrestling action!
It is hard to believe that ten years ago when Frank Rimer and Tony Scarlo founded the Dropkixx Wrestling Academy, that ten years later with the help of head trainer and current owner, Jon Ritchie long before he was made a “Gentlemen“, Dropkixx has helped to mould professional wrestling in the UK.
It is hard to believe that ten years ago when Frank Rimer and Tony Scarlo founded the Dropkixx Wrestling Academy that it would still be thriving today. Since 1998 Dropkixx has welcomed thousands of students through the doors and into the arms of the ever growing Dropkixx family, had hundreds of guest trainers ranging from Steve Grey to Tommy Dreamer and back again! Dropkixx is currently run by former LDN British Heavyweight champion Jon Ritchie who has had a hand in training some of the best wrestlers on the UK scene, including the current LDN British Heavyweight champion Yorghos Christopoulos.
One of the many success stories from the Dropkixx Wrestling Academy is Stu Sanders. Stu started his career with Dropkixx and eventually became the first ever IWC European Heavyweight champion via our first ever annual championship shoot tournament. Since then Stu has wrestled all over the UK and eventually wound up getting a WWE tryout (Along with former Dropkixx students “Beautiful” Dan Beckwith and Charlie Rage) and would earn a developmental contract. Since then Stu has been very successful over in America, winning the FCW (Florida Championship Wrestling) tag-team championships.
And now in 2008 we sit here able to say that our wrestlers are the most technically sound in Europe and have appeared on BBC1, MTV, TWC Fight! and many other outlets.
Just last year we were able to wrestle in front of masses of people at our first big shows in Maidstone, Kent last October, December and March. Our wrestlers have also had a great experience wrestling in top-rated London nightclub The Shunt as well as The Porcupine Pub in Mottingham.
However it is only natural that in order to properly celebrate our decennial year by returning to the home of Dropkixx, The Fondu Sports Club!
And what an important night it shall be as “The People’s Commissioner” Lucas Jackson has booked a sixteen person tournament to crown the winner of the first ever Dropkixx Cup!
The Grim Reaper, “Electric” Dan Eels, Hugh Mungus, Yorghos, Dave Jackson, “Tough” Tony, “Laser” Lagden, Jonny Love, Cell, Nicky B. Black, The Sensei and many more are all scheduled to participate in this tournament.
And we are also pleased to announce that making his return to the Dropkixx ring will be none other than ‘Heartbreaker’ Brad Beck, returning from a lengthy absence. It will be interesting to see how Lucas Jackson will react to this considering the fact that it was Jackson who kicked Beck out of the ever popular Action Faction group just last year.
The Dropkixx ten year anniversary show will be held at The Fondu Sports Club, North Road, Purfleet, Essex, RM19 1TU on the 30th of August. Tickets are just £5.00! The show starts at 7:00 with the doors being opened at 6:00

361|-165 News Update - 28/08/08
A great week of training this week, which started with the Sunday session at the Purfleet gym.
After a slow start presumably because of delays with transport due to the bank holiday, the warm-up was taken by Dave Jackson. Dave’s warm-up’s are always good, and we’re sure the students feel them more in the morning due to the fifty squats before the warm-up actually begins!
After the warm-up Dave led the students through some chain wrestling before moving onto some bigger moves using the crash mats.
After a short break the students competed in multi-person tag-team matches, which would be good practice for the special ten-year anniversary show at Purfleet this coming Saturday - where the whole night will consist of a tournament with a few big names scheduled to appear!
The next training session was on Wednesday at Tottenham where head trainer The Grim Reaper was joined by former MMA fighter Tony Thompson.
As usual with Tony taking the session it was great of all involved. Tony went showed the students come leg, arm and head submissions as well as some escapes.
After this The Grim Reaper took students through some pro-wrestling, again preparing for this Saturday’s upcoming show as mentioned earlier.

356|-160 News Update - 03/08/08
A simply great training session today, much like last week there was a “big fight” atmosphere in the gym, as this week we had the championship matches between last current reigning champions and the winners of last weeks tournaments to crown the new number one contenders.
Before the championship matches started we were busy setting up our new 16 x 16 foot ring, which was a sight to see. A big thanks goes out to former Hammerlock wrestler Alan Johnson for providing us with the ring. While the ring was still being set up, current IWC Light-Heavyweight champion Barry Ryan took students through a warm up and then showed the students some light take-downs, not wanting to overwork or overtire the students before the big matches later in the day.
At around 2:00 the first two wrestlers were called to the centre of the mat as the second week of our shoot tournament began!
The first match up would be contested under freestyle rules, which pitted the current IWC Juniors champion Travis Almond against Josh Thompson. After a close a evenly fought match, Travis ended the match with a pin in the second round.
The next match would be for the IWC Lightweight championship as Wesley McManus took on Beau Jacks, a wrestlers who’s improved so much in short time. Much like the last, this match was evenly matched, with a slow start but was soon taken down to the mat. After many close calls for pins and submissions Wesley ended the match in the second round with a submission.
Next up was scheduled to be our welterweight championship bout, pitting AJ Mysterio against Cell.
However, due to AJ not turning up for a scheduled and advertised championship match he has been stripped of the championship. Due to AJ not turning up for his championship match, the winner by forfeit and new IWC Welterweight champion, Cell.
The next match was also scheduled to happen, but due to family issues the IWC Middleweight champion ‘Sugar-Ray’ Hammer could not make it down to defend his championship against Cell, so the match has been re-arranged for a date yet to be announced. The reason ‘Sugar-Ray’ was not stripped of his championship was because he gave us prior notice that he would not be in attendance.
Next up was for the IWC Light-Heavyweight championship as fighting champion Barry Ryan defended his belt against another stand-out star Danny Griffin.
Much like the welterweight bout, early in this match there were submissions applied by both wrestlers, but both were able to counter and continue the match. In the second round Barry Ryan took advantage of the thirty second control rule to win the match.
Next up was our last match of the day, and was probably the most high anticipated match of the day. After his shock defeat of Barry Ryan last week Luke Bradley took on The Grim Reaper for the IWC Heavyweight championship.
After a slow star to the match, as neither man could take the advantage. Things heated up during the second round as for the first time in the match it was taken down to the mat, but soon after the bell was rung for the end of the round.
Going into the third round Luke was three points clear of the champion, but once the match was taken to the mat again in the third round the more experienced Grim Reaper managed to gain four points to defeat Luke.

What an excellent day the shoot tournament was. It always seem to bring out the best in our wrestlers and today was no exception.
To start the day we had the pure expertise of Andy Gibson to take us through a light warm-up and some great attack moves to get us in the mood for our forth coming tournament.
Then we were more than privileged to have and witness Andy Gibson joined by MMA ace and undefeated welterweight and middleweight champion Tony Thompson and have them work together showing us some fantastic stuff.
Then in the afternoon we had our annual shoot competition, this has always stood us out from the rest and today was no exception.

Also ‘Tough’ Tony, Wesley McManus, ‘Electric’ Dan Eels were all training hard for the up-coming IWC shoot tournament. 352|-156 This Sunday’s Guest Session - 17/07/08
With the third annual IWC shoot tournament on the 27th of July we decided to bring in a guest that we know those that have been taught by him before will enjoy, and those that have not are in for a great session!
Andy Gibson, the Olympic style guru and widely travelled former champion will head the class on the mat this week.
Andy is also a former Hammerlock pro-wrestling star who found the temptation to switch completely to the Olympic style unavoidable in his quest for wrestling perfection.
Andy is also a star of the NFL European league and holds sprint records amongst other standards he has set.
Also head coach Jon Ritchie will be taking the in-ring pro-training this week, in our new 16 x 16 foot ring!
After a few bad weeks we are now back on track with so much planned for coming months. For more information on Dropkixx training, shows, shoots or anything else, head over to our Dropkixx Discussion forum, the link to which can be found at the bottom of each newsletter update.

This week at the gym saw a returning Dave Jackson take his as-always great warm up, which all the students enjoyed (Maybe a little less in the morning though!)
Dave showed the students some takedowns from the lock-up stance, various throws, suplexes and also submissions once you have taken the opponent down.
After this the ever popular promo session reared it's head, all the students took part. During these promos it really shows how much the students have progressed and gained confidence, some great promos were given this time (As always!), probably the best one of the day was made by Bernice, who gave insults from everyone from Jon Ritchie to The Royal Scotsmen!
Also this Sunday the ever popualr Sgt. Kevin Anthony made his triumphant return to training after a very serious hernia operation. Everyone was glad to see him, and we can only imagine it won't be long before he's back on the shows pleasing the crowds as only he can!
We're going to be very busy over the coming three months, including our first show in Sidcup and various guest trainers. The information about the new shows and guest trainers will be on the forum shortly.
Don't forget that the next Dropkixx training session will be at Tottenham led by The Grim Reaper. Tottenham training starts at 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., the address of the gym is: The Royal British Legion, 399 Tottenham High Road, Tottenham, N17 6QN.

After the always great warm-up the students paired up and Jon Ritchie showed them various ways to start match - other than the usual lock-up.
After this there was a short break before back on the mat where Jon Ritchie took students through some of the bigger moves with the help of the crash mats. After this students were give some more free time where they either did some chain wrestling with each other or continued doing bigger moves on the crash mats.

348|-152 R.I.P. Mikey Sharpe - 16/06/08
We are all very sad to announce that on Friday news began to spead about the death of one of our students Mikey Sharpe, who trained at our Tottenham gym and wrestled on shows there.
Mikey was a very popular person who loved wrestling and rock music. A man without enemies in the wrestling world (A feat in it's own) died on late Thursday/early Friday.
There is no explaining how we all feel, but the strong bond between our students and staff became exceptionally evident as Mikey was one of us and one of our own.
As one of his coaches I found Mikey to be a lovely person and I am not alone I'm sure in feeling deeply sad for Mikey and his family at this terrible time, R.I.P. Mikey, we love you.
The upcoming Fondu show will be dedicated to our memories of Mikey. Because of this situation any other nws from the past couple of weeks will be found on our discussion forum.

A busy day this week saw Lucy Clayden lead the students through a strenuouse warm-up before the students were paired up as they learnt some amateur lock-ups and take-downs which can be incorporated into professional matches.
After this The Grim Reaper and one half of the IWC European Tag-Team champions Stefan Hard led some of the newer students through some in-ring training.
After a brief break students were paired up again and were told to go through a come-back sequence that would be included in a match.
Happening next Sunday (15/06) will be a shoot match between the current IWC European Light-Heavweight champion Barry Ryan and current number one contender to that championship, Nicky P. Both men are equally matched and it should make for a great shoot match!

A busy gym this Sunday saw Dave ‘Union’ Jackson take students through a grueling warm-up that contained one-hundred squats, we’re sure our trainees will be feeling that one in the morning!
After the warm-up head trainer and birthday boy Jon Ritchie took students through some great sequence wrestling, which shoot and World Of Sport legend John Hall took over as Jon Ritchie supervised the in-ring training of some of the newer students with ‘Tough’ Tony and The Grim Reaper.
After some free mat time the lights went out in the gym, and before Jon Ritchie started to shout about the lights being turned off, a birthday cake with four candles - Instead of 46, sorry Jon! - was brought into the gym with the students singing ‘Happy Birthday’.
After some free mat time it was announced that the Fondu Sports Club show that was planned for Thursday the 5th of June has now been moved to Thursday the 19th of June.
Things have also been going great at our Tottenham training gym, where The Grim Reaper continues to impress students with his unique training sessions.  Sunday in the Purfleet gym once again saw Jon Ritchie on form as he took students through various chains using proven techniques and adding the students own inventions, before an afternoon session of promos.
These promos produced some of the funniest sketches to date and proves the adage that practice makes perfect.
World of Sport and shoot legend John Hall made a much applauded and appreciated return after a long illness and quickly showed us that no skill has been lost and spent the day taking individual students through some of the more defined wrestling combinations.
Add to this Dave 'Union' Jackson, Lucy Clayden, Mr. Bam and more all helping students through the day it left no doubt why Dropkixx remains the number one academy in Europe and continues to lead the way.
Guests this week other than John Hall included former Hammerlock stars Tony McMillon and Dean Champion.
This week will begin on the mat advancing to the ring for the afternoon session, any further information as usual can be found on the Dropkixx Discussion forum

As reported in the 11/05/08 newsletter update Cage Rage star Tony Thompson was the guest trainer this week at our Tottenham gym, and what a training session it was!
It was a great class, with Tony showing the eager students listening to every word. During the session Tony showed students various takedowns, submissions, strikes and kicks - And we’re sure all of this will come in handy when we hold our annual shoot tournament this year (More information on this will be on the Dropkixx Discussion forum).
Overall it was a great session where both new and old students turned out, and we’re sure they can’t wait to see Tony Thompson down again!

341|-147 News Update - 12/05/08
This Sunday at the gym saw a verity of different things happening. With the weather unusually nice we set the ring up outside, where some of the more advanced (And later some of the less experienced) worked in the ring, while a majority of the students trained inside the gym.
Jon Ritchie led the warm up and then took the students through a lesson about the Dropkixx style of wrestling.
Jon split the class into two and had them line up on opposite sides of the wall, they would then wrestle with the person opposite them for a couple of minutes before swapping partners - so that everyone on the mat wrestled everyone.
After this Jon Ritchie showed students a new chain, which was created from one move and had students saying what move/hold could go next. After the chain was practised students then did the final version in the ring.
This all led to a great day of hard training, going back to the foundations of Dropkixx wrestling, all leading up to our Fondu Sports Club show on the 5th of June.
Things have been going equally as good at our Tottenham gym, where head trainer and current IWC European Heavyweight champion The Grim Reaper continues his great training there. This week there will be a guest session from Cage Rage fighter Tony Thomson, don’t miss this great opportunity! Tottenham training starts at 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., the address of the gym is: The Royal British Legion, 399 Tottenham High Road, Tottenham, N17 6QN.

Another busy day at the gym this week which saw Lucy Clayden take students through an excellent warm-up and then some sequences and chain wrestling.
After a short break it was time for the shoot match we mentioned earlier in the week on the newsletter, as Dingo Dundee challenged ‘Electric’ Dan Eels’ for his as the number one ranked IWC Lightweight.
The match was closely called, with ‘Electric’ Dan Eels winning ten to six on points after a four-round battle. 329|-135 News Update - 27.01.08
This Sunday we had everything that a great wrestling tournament should have. Excitement. Bravery. Commitment. Controversy. Shock Wins. And as always, some brilliant talent on display.
We have gained great champions to stand alongside our current IWC European Light-Heavyweight champion Barry Ryan and the IWC European Welterweight champion AJ Mysterio.
There was disappointment as would be expected for those that didn't quite pull of the victories they wanted. But great sportsmanship all round, which was a pleasure to see and I hope every one involved is proud of this achievement.
As Ray Clayden said what other club in Europe could pull off such a great competition with just their own club members as we did.
The annual shoot tournament will be around the end of July, the good news is that following the success we have had with these competitions, is that the next ones will be done in the professional manner of a show with entrances, introductions, etc. and there is a very good chance the whole thing could be filmed.
This is a tremendous outcome and you should all be very proud.

313|-122 News Update - 22.10.07
Another great session on Sunday which saw the head trainer "Notorious" Jon Ritchie takes students through the usual warm-up and then bump practice before getting the students paired up for some in-ring practice in the open air!
The pairings were widely varied, we had young and old and experienced and the not-so experienced all putting on a ten minute match in front of the class.
Our next show will be held at the Fondu Sports club on the 31st of October. That special Wednesday show will have the usual start time of 7:45 P.M. and all the wrestlers will be wrestling in fancy dress!
For more information on that show or any other show, head over to the Dropkixx Discussion forum (As usual the link is at the bottom of the update).
